Flower Sampler I took an

Flower Sampler

I took an embroidery class a couple weeks ago at the Stitch Lab. Rachel of Average Jane Crafter taught the class. I took the class to fine tune my skills and battle the stem stitch. I had a blast and caught a glimpse of the super secret tea towel for Jenny Hart. That was almost as fun as taking the class. :) eeeek! I really appreciated the class. This is what we made in class. I couldnt wait to take it home to frame it. I bought these cool shadow box style frames from Ikea. I decided to kinda scrapbook it. I did my first rub on on the glass with an Amy Butler trim rub on transfer. I love how it turned out. I even did the back and added a lil journaling too. Check it out in the next pic View Large On Black

the cover to a scrapbook I recently made for my textile design class. originally it was just going to be the image on the front, but I decided to add more muslin and cardboard and paper and convert it to a scrapbook. So fun to make!

monotype sampler 22 x 30

monotype sampler

22 x 30" I did this piece over a couple of years. It started out as a diary piece - randomly printing whatever I happened to be working on that day in the studio. It was pretty god awful - no rhyme or reason ; in the back of my mind I kept thinking 'crazy quilt' - that type of quilt made up of random pieces. the beginning of the summer when the printmaking studio closed for a couple months, I brought it home really wanting to finish it - so I added a lot of the hand stitching and some toole and colored pencil work. I'm pleased that it doesn't look so god awful anymore. I'm thinking of trying this working method again on a smaller scale and with perhaps more focus either on design or content. I also like the words in "art is what you make of it" and how you can mix up those words to say something else. unfortunately the detail is somewhat lost in flickr.

FREE frame embroidery pattern Another free sample.

FREE frame embroidery pattern

Another free sample. This one is from the "frames kit." Just listed in the shop, my first 2 page pattern kit! There were just too many cute frames to narrow it down to one page. How cute would these be stitched onto a scrapbook page? Your welcome to use this pattern for personal use. If you feel like sharing your finished product I would love to see it! Wish This is my

Wish

This is my take on the first tutorial in Rachel Denbow's Faulty Hearts Are Lovely Class. Rachel's layout was all about the things she wanted to do 'someday' and my biggest wish at the moment is that I'll eventually lead the kind of life where I can just throw everything in the back of my campervan and head off into the sunset. I didn't need a lot of journalling as the caption on the magazine page seemed to sum it up perfectly. I only added a bit of embroidery thread, ribbon and some stamping. All made with stuff I had in my stash.
